Photographer shot a rare phenomenon in the Arctic sky
- white arc known as "hazy" arc, writes the newspaper "The
Sun".
The phenomenon was observed during a recent expedition to the North Pole. The crew of a Russian nuclear icebreaker "50 let pobedai” is amazed at the sight of a completely white arc, but the photographer Sam Dobson responded quickly despite freezing temperatures and is able to capture the phenomenon.
"It was around midnight, but at this time of year in this region is still light enough. Initially we thought that we see a cloud, but when approached more, we found that a dense arc of white. We were so impressed that all stepped on a floating piece of ice for better visibility, "says 51-year-old Dobson.
"Misty" arc is a phenomenon like the rainbow, but it seems like an arch in the fog, instead of rain. Due to the small size of water droplets causing mist - smaller than 0.05 mm, the arc appears white, not colorful.
